Baptisms & Christenings
Q. How many Godparents can I have for my child ?
A. The most important thing is to choose the “right” people. Two is the minimum; but you may have up to five. Godparents must be over 16, and have been christened themselves – please check. If they haven’t been christened, it’s not unusual for us to arrange for an adult to be baptised on a separate day – and this can be a very spiritual occasion. Ask for details !
Q. Is it true that Godparents are responsible for their godchildren if anything happens to the parents ?
A. No. There is no legal commitment. If you want to arrange this, you need to state it in your will.
Q. Do you have a Sunday School ?
A. Yes, and your children are very welcome to give it a try ! Our Sunday club is fun, free and caters for children of all ages. It’s at 10.30 on the first Sunday of the month (which is our family service), and at 10:00 all other Sundays. We also have special services for Christmas, Easter, Harvest and so on.
Q. I am an adult, thinking about being baptised. Can that be arranged ?
A. Certainly. We regularly baptise adults (often at a small service with just close family present). Speak to the vicar, and we’ll make the necessary arrangements.
